So exams finished a loooong time ago ;-)
I failed discrete maths and formal logics, which is a bummer as this semester's courses seem a lot harder. Exams'll start again in a few weeks.
I do _like_ the kind of maths we have now (analysis, algebra and geometry) but still, making proofs - no - remembering the axioms isn't something I'm very good at.
To make matters worse I wasn't able to finish my programming project on time, I had to hand in unfinished code.
But really, "monopoly"... what kind of project was that anyway?!
I seriously hope we stop doing all this big software crap soon so we can focus more on the REAL interesting stuff: operating systems, drivers, kernels, ...
But for that I need to pass all my exams.
Will I be able to focus, with the promise of a better future?
Or will I continue to simply "hope for the best".
We'll find out in the next episode of... DarthTibault's Blog

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The first semester is finally over. Vacation has starte... ah no. Right. University. I have to study for my exams. Bummer.
So, what's been keeping me busy: The Gimp.
It all started with Pieter-Jan editing a picture of Gaetan, (a name we like to pronounce as gaytown), adding lipstick, etc. Gaetan answered with a disturbingly revealing photoshop of Pieter-Jan and another photoshop of me as a fat guy (think american).
Obviously I couldn't just let that happen, so I redid Pieter-Jan's original photoshop, but more realistically :)
When I finished I was really happy with how easily I could come up with some pretty good looking pictures, so I started 'Gimping' others as well :P
Gaƫtan - Pieter-Jan - Bram
Fun ^_^
But then the fun ends and you remember you've got better things to do. Before I can even start studying I still have to write a softwaremanual and build a site for it. Tomorrow I have to go to Gent to hand in my portfolio. I hate communication tasks.

18
Woops, looks like I forgot to post here for quite some time.
My last post was about the laptop and how the shiping info was wrong... well, it arrived the very next day: I just got home from university when a van stopped in front of my house :D
It's a great machine, Vista was slow as hell so I quickly got rid of it. Feisty had some problems but nothing I couldn't handle. It now runs Gutsy and apart from suspend everything seems to be working just fine.
University rocks by the way, just one course looks dangerous: discrete mathematics. I had a look at when the exams are planned and it appears I'll be spending about 4 weeks (!) at home to study... one would hope that to be sufficient ^^. Back in middle school we had at least one exam a day, for two weeks, with no time off to prepare. You can imagine this is quite a welcome change.
A lot of my friends in uni are mac users, and I have to admit, those macbooks are neat. They're small, light and blazing fast! but I can't help wondering how well Ubuntu would run on it :P

What I've been reading:
- 20th Century Boys (finished (scanlations, I was tired of waiting))
- Pluto (BEST manga ever!)
- Harry Potter 7 (how older I get the more childish Rowling's jokes become...)
- Battlestar Galatica s03 (finished)
- Taxi4 (too few shots with the taxi IMO)
- The Bourne Ultimatum (another great Bourne)
- The Departed
What I've been listening to:
- Dire Staits
- Bach Cello Suites (2 different perfomers: Tortelier P. and Fournier P.)

Day 60
It's shipped 0_o
It really is! It only took 'em 2 full months, but it's finally shipped!
I was kind of hoping I'd have it by tomorrow (as I only have classes until 11:15) so I'd have enough time to revise my lessons AND install Ubuntu (which seems stupid as Gutsy will be released in just 4 weeks) but I can't spend a month on Vista, no way, not gonna happen.
According to the helpdesk though, it probably won't arrive until early next week. Hmpf, I hate early next week: that's when I have to work the most! Oh well, as long as it arrives I'll be happy. No wait: as long as it arrives correctly and in excellent condition, I'll be happy.
The wait begins (again)

Day 53
It's been 53 days now since I ordered my Dell Inspiron 1520... still nothing.
It seems I'm doomed to suffer:
Remember the Akiras that FINALLY arrived? Well, one of them was damaged. Badly:
As you can see, this was obviously NOT a new copy. So after a few mails back and forth I got a new one. Akira was... OK. I'll be honoust: I expected more, but hey, that's life.
I did really like the scanlation of Planetes, so I wanted to buy the TPB. Obviously something had to go wrong here as well, and of course, it did: Tokypop doesn't print Planetes anymore. Hah. However, I -astonishingly- found a Belgian Amazone-ish site, that still sold it. Even better: no shipping fees! So I ordered them. 10 days later: shipped. But... (I don't think I've ever told a story without that word) not the last book (vol4 part2). I was afraid I'd never get the collection complete, until this morning when I found a mail in my inbox saying that the last book had now finally been shipped to me. Ureshi :)
Tomorrow I'm going to university. I'll be introduced with the teachers and my fellow students. I REALLY hope there are some OpenSource/manga/StarWars/Hitchhiker geeks in the group, because the last group I met was nothing but a bunch of Windows users who thought computers were all about gaming. One guy was actually defending Microsoft and Internet Explorer. "Well DUH they force their own standards, that's the only way to ensure their position in the market" 0_o yeah...
And to conclude: a (probably incomplete) list of what I've been watching/reading but didn't mention here these past 3 months:

- TV series:
- Battlestar Galactica (up until s02e17 now)
- Anime:
- Noir (finally completed it, great show)
- Seirei no Moribito (LOVE it, to bad it's almost over)
- Hayate no Gotoku (the more manga/anime I read/watch the funnier this show gets)
- Manga:
- 20th Century Boys (v01-05)
- Kiseijuu / Parasyte (read v01, it looks promising)
- ALIVE (ch01-13. Not the best manga, but OK)
- Evangelion Re-Take (a true sequel: brainfucks and everything)
- No Bra: (ch01-06... I really don't know what to say about this one *laughs ashamed*)

good and bad news
That's right, I've got some good and some really bad news. I'll start with the good:
I've got my mangas. It turns out they were delivered around the corner: same number, wrong street. I'm an honest lad, so I cancelled the replacement order. However: now I've lost my Archonia points... (not that it's such a big deal, but still)
As for the bad news: my Dell laptop has been delayed... again! And not just by a week, it's now scheduled to arrive October 9th! That's more than two months after I ordered it!!!
I feel like crying in a dark corner of my room...
so if you need me, that's where I'll be.

One week later, my order is still missing. Archonia was pretty quick to reply to my mail, saying that they had started an investigation with DPD. But after a week (and a lot of mailing back and forth) they still haven't found it. I've talked to the guy who delivered my order, but he couldn't remember at all where he delivered it.
Today I finally got a mail that said Archonia was also sick of waiting. They made a replacement order, but... some items are (once again) out of stock. Last time it took 3 weeks, normally it should only take 2. Two weeks would mean September 4th, a day after my laptop is supposed to arrive. No, that ain't true... you see, I've been mailing Dell as well: the laptop is now delayed some more. New estimated date is September 10th.
So yeah, I was expecting my mangas mid-august, and my laptop end-august. It'll now turn out to be halfway September for both. -sigh-
Thank The Force university doesn't start till September 27th....
Oh yeah, that's right, I'm officially a university student now *applause*. I'll be studying Informatics at the Universtity of Gent. Let's hope that works out better than my online shopping...
